Chief of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology
 
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care seeks a dynamic leader for CV Anesthesiology.  The successful candidate will be a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in adult cardiothoracic anesthesia, and significant experience as an academic cardiac anesthesiologist.  Applicants should be eligible for an appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills that will enable him/her to be a successful leader.  The Department is home to a growing group of fellowship-trained cardiac anesthesiologists providing service for over 6000 adult cases annually, which include cardiac, vascular, thoracic, transplant, and various other procedures including those in the cath lab. The Department has a successful fellowship in Adult CT Anesthesiology. The department also has a core anesthesiology residency and trainees from four anesthesiology residency programs that rotate on a monthly basis.  Therefore, teaching is a major mission of this division within the Department. Likewise, encouragement of research and scholarly activity is paramount. Walter Tower is the home of the CV anesthesia group, providing a truly state-of-the-art surgical environment. Cardiovascular anesthesiology research is part of the strategic mission of this employer.  This is facilitated by the presence of a world-renowned Heart and Vascular Center, where leading cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists and cardiovascular anesthesiologists and intensivists work together to provide patients the best care available while fostering a brighter tomorrow through research and innovation.
