We are seeking passionate and dedicated Medical Physicists to join the Imaging department at a very reputable desert area hospital that is affiliated with UCSD Radiation Oncology. The team is expanding and seeking a dedicated medical physicist to assist in onsite special procedures such as SRS, SBRT and HDR cases, alongside fulfilling all essential physicist duties. As a Medical Physicist you will be assisting in servicing of QA’s, helping with ACR documentation and policy developments, research in future as well. You will also be providing Radiation Safety Education for staff and training dosimetry students.
 
About the position:
 
  1. As a valued member of the team, you'll work closely with esteemed colleagues, including the Chief Medical Physicist and Dosimetrists, to uphold the highest standards of radiation therapy delivery. 
  1. As a Medical Physicist you will be responsible for assuring the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy through participation in linear accelerator quality assurance, treatment planning, and consultation in accordance with AAPM standards.
  2. Responsible for communicating with physicians, radiation therapist, dosimetrists, office personnel and nurses as needed to improve and excel at patient care in radiation therapy.
  3. Provides technical support and skills for adoption of new technology and is continually looking at opportunities for improving the delivery of physics and dosimetry support within the department. 
  4. Assures a high level of treatment delivery by maintaining quality assurance and calibration procedures for all radiation devices according to accepted protocols and standards of practice.
  5. Responsible for physics treatment planning and radiation safety.
  6. Supervise Dosimetry team members and student dosimetrist.
 
Requirements:
  • Required: Masters in medical physics/physics
  • Required: Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the ABR or ABMP, American Heart Association BLS
  • Required: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience including IMRT, SBRT stereotactic radiosurgery.
  • Would prefer if experienced with: Truebeam, Novalis, HDR, Eclipse, ARIA, Radformation clear check, MIM Maestro, Auto contouring, Rad Calc.
