Adult Hematologist | Sickle Cell Disease Program | Baton Rouge, LA

An established academic health system in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Adult Hematologist or Hematologist/Oncologist with a passion for Sickle Cell Disease to join an expanding Adult Sickle Cell Program serving patients throughout South Louisiana.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a physician interested in benign hematology, adult sickle cell disease, and multidisciplinary care. The incoming physician will help lead a growing regional program dedicated to improving outcomes for adults living with Sickle Cell Disease while working alongside an experienced team of Advanced Practice Providers and clinical specialists.

What You'll Do
The Adult Hematologist will provide comprehensive care for adults living with Sickle Cell Disease while partnering with a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering coordinated, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and manage adults with Sickle Cell Disease
- Treat benign hematologic disorders
- Manage acute vaso-occlusive pain crises and other Sickle Cell complications
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on disease modification and long-term wellness
- Provide outpatient hematology care and infusion center management
- Review and accept referrals into the Adult Sickle Cell Program
- Collaborate closely with:
- Two dedicated Sickle Cell Nurse Practitioners
- Pharmacy
- Behavioral Health
- Pain Management
- Social Work
- Care Management
- Infusion Services
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development
- Optional involvement with resident and medical student education
Practice Highlights:
- Dedicated Adult Sickle Cell Disease practice
- Primarily outpatient setting
- Infusion center support
- Average patient volume of 12–15 patients per day
- Two dedicated Sickle Cell Nurse Practitioners
- Collaborative multidisciplinary care model

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have:
- MD or DO
- Fellowship training in Adult Hematology or Hematology/Oncology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology
- Eligibility for unrestricted Louisiana medical licensure
- DEA eligibility
- A genuine passion for caring for adults living with Sickle Cell Disease
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
- Physicians with experience or a strong clinical interest in Benign Hematology, Adult Sickle Cell Disease, or Academic Hematology are encouraged to apply.
