Locum / Temp-to-Perm OB/GYN Physician – Coastal Alabama

Location: Mobile, Alabama Area

Specialty: Obstetrics & Gynecology

Employment: Locum Tenens / Temp-to-Permanent

Start: ASAP

Duration: 3–6 Months+

Schedule: 4 Clinical/Surgical Days per Week + Shared Home Call

Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking an OB/GYN physician for an immediate, ongoing opportunity with an established women's health practice in coastal Alabama.

This position offers a combination of outpatient OB/GYN, deliveries, gynecologic surgery, and shared home call. The initial assignment is anticipated to run 3–6 months or until a permanent physician is hired, with an excellent opportunity to transition into a permanent position if there is mutual interest.

This is an attractive option for a physician seeking consistent locum coverage or someone who would prefer to evaluate a practice and community before making a long-term commitment.

Schedule:

The incoming physician will generally work four clinic/surgery days per week, with clinical days typically falling between approximately 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM depending upon the day's clinic and surgical schedule.

The practice's established physician currently sees approximately 30–40 clinic patients per day. The incoming physician is expected to begin with a lower patient volume while establishing their panel.

Call Schedule:

Call is home call and shared with another OB/GYN physician.

Coverage includes:

Clinical Scope:

The physician will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, including:

The established physician currently averages approximately 15–20 deliveries per month, although the incoming temporary physician's initial volume is expected to be lower.

Current surgical volume includes approximately 5 major and 3–4 minor gynecologic cases per month.

Practice & Hospital Support

Requirements:

Credentialing & Start:

The need is ASAP. Hospital credentialing and privileges may be completed within a matter of weeks.

The practice is also willing to consider a phased start, allowing the incoming physician to begin seeing patients as the necessary approvals are completed rather than requiring all payer and clinic credentialing to be finalized before starting.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This assignment offers a combination that is difficult to find in traditional locum coverage: a four-day clinical/surgical workweek, consistent ongoing coverage, home call, and a legitimate temp-to-permanent pathway.

Physicians interested in remaining long-term will be considered for permanent employment, while those seeking locum coverage can initially commit to the 3–6 month coverage period.

Interested OB/GYN physicians with an active Alabama license are encouraged to apply with an updated CV for complete schedule, call, compensation, and assignment details.
