Critical Care Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Connecticut | Part-Time, Direct Hire
About the Opportunity
A respected Connecticut health system is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its inpatient Critical Care team. This is a true inpatient role for a provider who is comfortable managing complex, critically ill patients, performing advanced procedures, and practicing with autonomy while collaborating with intensivists as needed.
Schedule & Structure
- Part-time, 24 hours
- Rotating days and nights with Monday-Sunday coverage
- No call
- Inpatient Critical Care setting
- APP autonomy with intensivist support
- Epic EHR
Compensation

What You'll Do
Critical Care Management
- Manage complex, critically ill patients in an inpatient setting
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop individualized care plans
- Provide medical, educational, and psychosocial support to patients and families
- Coordinate care with intensivists, physicians, specialists, nursing, and the multidisciplinary team
- Recognize concerns outside the scope of APP practice and escalate appropriately
Autonomy & Procedures
- Practice at the top of your license within established Critical Care protocols
- Perform advanced procedures within your competency and credentialing scope
- Carry meaningful clinical responsibility during off-hours, with intensivist collaboration available
- Support safe, timely, and coordinated patient care throughout the inpatient stay
What We're Looking For
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Minimum of one year of recent Critical Care experience as an NP or PA
- Comfort managing high-acuity patients and performing advanced procedures
- Ability to work rotating day and night shifts
- Eligibility for Connecticut licensure
Please note: this is an inpatient Critical Care position, not a primary care, outpatient-only, or non-acute-care role.
