Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant- Connecticut | Full-Time, Direct Hire
About the Opportunity
A respected Connecticut hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join its Neurocritical Care team. Advanced Practice Providers are part of a top-tier multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for critically ill neuroscience patients, with a focus on neurological and neurosurgical diseases and related disorders. APPs rotate through the intensive care unit and step-down units.
Schedule & Structure
- Full-time, 40 hours per week (three 13-hour shifts)
- Night shift with a rotating schedule
- No call
- Inpatient Neurocritical Care setting, covering the ICU and step-down units
- Epic EHR
Compensation
Market-leading compensation, with shift differentials on top of base salary.
What You'll Do
Neurocritical Care Management
- Care for a complex patient population, including complex strokes, skull base surgery, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injury, and DBS
- Perform physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans of care
- Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, including referrals to specialists and other team members
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team
Scope & Collaboration
- Provide treatment for problems within your scope of practice, as designated by established protocols and guidelines
- Practice in collaboration with, or under the supervision of, the practice physicians
- Identify problems outside your scope of practice and refer appropriately
What We're Looking For
- Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Interest in inpatient Critical Care and Neurocritical Care
- Ability to work a rotating night schedule
- Eligibility for Connecticut licensure
Please note: this is an inpatient Critical Care position, not a primary care or outpatient-only role.
