Cardiothoracic Surgery & ICU Advanced Practice Provider (PA or Acute Care NP) Connecticut | Full-Time, Direct Hire
About the Opportunity
A respected academic-level cardiac surgery program in Connecticut is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join its inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This is a hands-on, high-acuity role caring for pre- and postoperative cardiac surgery patients across the ICU, step-down, and floor settings.
Schedule & Structure
- Full-time, 3 x 13-hour shifts
- Permanent night opportunities available, along with day/night/weekend/holiday rotation
- No call
- 18-bed Cardiac Surgery ICU
Compensation
Competitive compensation, discussed upon qualification, with premium night and weekend differentials.
What You'll Do
- Manage preoperative and postoperative Cardiac Surgery patients across the ICU, step-down, and floor
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, monitor clinical progress, and educate patients and families
- Support safe transitions of care between units
- Perform bedside procedures within your credentialed scope, including central and arterial line placement and IABP removal
- Care for patients receiving ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplant, and TAVR-related care
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary Cardiac Surgery team in a patient-centered model
What We're Looking For
- Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Experience in Cardiac Surgery, CVICU, Surgical ICU, or other high-acuity inpatient care preferred
- Comfort with invasive procedures and complex postoperative management
- Eligibility for Connecticut licensure
- Willingness to work nights or a rotating schedule
- New graduates are welcome to apply
Please note: this is an inpatient surgical and critical care role, not a clinic-based cardiology or primary care position.
