What You'll Do

• Own the Scrub: Act as the primary scrub technologist on routine, complex, and emergency cardiac surgeries.
• Command the OR Environment: Set up and maintain pristine sterile fields, open-heart trays, sternal saws, EVH setups, and cannulation gear.
• Anticipate Every Move: Keep procedures moving safely and efficiently by predicting the surgeon's next step before they even ask.
• Be the Cardiac Expert: Master cardiac anatomy, bypass workflows, and perfusion dynamics to protect patient safety every step of the way.
• Answer the Call: Step up for emergency surgeries and call coverage when patients need us most.

What We’re Looking For

The Non-Negotiables (Must-Haves)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certifications:
  • NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
• Licensure: Active Virginia State License prior to your start date.

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Skills)

• CVOR Experience: 2+ years of recent CVOR experience (we're flexible if you bring exceptional background skills!).
• Scrubbing Expertise: Direct experience with:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Valve Replacements & Repairs
  • Aortic Surgeries & Structural Heart Procedures
  • ECMO & Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS)
• Equipment Mastery: Hands-on confidence with EVH setup, sternal saws, cell savers, and cannulation/perfusion instrumentation.
