Urgent Locum Gastroenterologist Opportunity – New Jersey

are urgently seeking Board-Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologists for a locum inpatient assignment at a highly respected medical center in New Jersey. This role offers consistent 7-day blocks of coverage making it an excellent opportunity for physicians looking for flexible yet steady locum work. Only candidates with an active NJ medical License will be considered.

Position Details:

• Schedule: 7-day blocks (Monday – Sunday)
  • Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm (in-house, approx., 8-hours/day
  • Nightly on-call coverage Monday – Friday
  • 24-hour weekend call (Saturday & Sunday, ending Monday at 7 am)
• Patient Load: Approximately 15 patients per day.
• Setting: inpatient consults & follow-ups (work alongside private GI providers)
• EMR System: Epic

Procedures and Responsibilities:

• Perform investigative endoscopic procedures, including:
• Colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, upper endoscopies, duodenoscopes, gastroscopies, barium swallows
• ERCP proficiency required
  • Diagnose and manage a full spectrum of GI disorders, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, IBS, and other digestive conditions
  • Provide on-call gastroenterology coverage for the Emergency Department per hospital policies
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including private GI providers and upcoming Advanced Practice Providers (APNs/PAs)

Requirements:

• Board-Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Active New Jersey Medical License or IMLC LOQ at time of application
• Experience with inpatient consults & Emergency GI coverage preferred
• Proficiency in ERCP required
