Locums Opportunity: Cardiothoracic Surgery in Philadelphia, PA

Start Date: July 1st.

Length: 3-6 months

Schedule: 3x12s | On-Call: 1 night/week + 1 weekend every 6 weeks.

Join a highly respected, fully APP-run cardiac surgery service – No residents, no fellows, and no micromanagement. Just dedicated surgeons and skilled APPs working in sync to deliver world-class care to an underserved patient population.

What you will be doing:

• First-assist in cardiac cases (daily volume: 1-2 cases)
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and line placements.
• Manage 6-8 patients/day in the CCU & Telemetry units
• Lead patient care from pre-op to post-op, in close collaboration with attending surgeons
• Participate in bedside procedures and contribute to clinical research efforts
• Use Cerner EMR for streamlines patient documentation

The Team:

• APP – run service with 2-3 APPs on weekdays, and 1 overnight APP
• On-call surgeon coverage 24/7
• No trainees, ensuring clean, focused workflows and true team autonomy

Requirements:

• AAPA Certification and Active PA License (or Acute Care NP Cert)
• 3-5+ years of experience in cardiac surgery or CCU
• Proven skills in first-assist cardiac surgery & EVH
• Comfortable managing complex cardiac post-op care independently
