Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist – Inpatient Only | Immediate Start | New Jersey
Overview:
We’re actively seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for an inpatient-only locum tenens opportunity in New Jersey. This assignment offers a streamlined schedule, a solo hospital-based role, and access to a collaborative inpatient team including Hospitalists and Intensivists. This is a fantastic opportunity for a GI physician looking to take on meaningful cases in a supportive environment without clinic responsibilities.
Position Details:
- Setting: Inpatient-only (No clinic)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts | Emergency call coverage required
- Average Daily Census: 5–10 patients
- Support: Solo coverage with support from Hospitalists & Intensivists (No APPs)
- EMR: EPIC
- Start: ASAP
- Block OR time available for procedures
Scope of Practice:
You will manage a diverse range of GI conditions, including urgent and emergent inpatient cases. Access to state-of-the-art equipment and a full-service GI suite ensures optimal care delivery.
Key Procedures May Include:
- Diagnostic & Therapeutic ERCP
- Diagnostic EGD
- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
- Total Colonoscopy
- Argon Plasma Coagulation
- PEG placement
- Esophageal dilation & stent placement
- Pneumatic dilation for achalasia
- Paracentesis
- GI tumor ablation
- Snare Polypectomy
- Management of GI bleeding (acute & massive)
- Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, malabsorption
- Video capsule enteroscopy
- IV conscious sedation (ACLS required)
Ideal Candidate:
- Board-Certified in Gastroenterology
- Comfortable working independently in an inpatient setting
- Proficient in advanced GI procedures
- Licensed (or IMLC-eligible) in New Jersey preferred
- ACLS certified
