Position Overview:
A prominent Hospital System in Vermont is seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist to provide procedural endoscopy coverage one week per month. This opportunity supports an established general surgery practice and addresses referral backlogs, physician vacation coverage, and succession planning due to a pending retirement.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform an estimated 50–60 endoscopy procedures per week
Daily schedule includes:
Procedures: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (10 scopes/day avg.)
Administrative/Charting: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Provide GI consults as needed (no clinic appointments required)
No call responsibilities
Embedded within a General Surgery clinic alongside two board-certified surgeons
Supported by dedicated Endoscopy Technicians, Nurses, and Surgical Services staff
Utilize Epic and EndoVault EMR systems
Required Qualifications:
Board Certified in Gastroenterology
Active ACLS certification
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship
Proficient in performing:
Colonoscopy
Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
Preferred: Experience with Esophageal Dilation and Foreign Body Removal
Shifts: Monday – Friday during designated coverage week
No Call, No Midlevel Oversight Required
Start Date: As soon as available; flexible for the right candidate
EMR: Unified across hospital and clinic (Epic & EndoVault)
